In order to gratify the demand for the mobile use, like small, light and low power consumption, we considered to use Penetrating Heat Fusible Ink Thermal Transfer Printing Method (PHT) and Small Edge type Thermal Head with Low Radiate Heat Pipe Grass. As the result we developed and commercialized a portable color printer, which main specifications are (1) Small size : 130mm (W) × 36.5mm (H) × 94.5mm (D), (2) Light weight : 445g (include Ink ribbon, Battery and Papers), (3) Many number of printing papers : 40 card size papers/ a 7.2V770mA lithium battery.

In the era of multimedia services by ISDB, the following functions will be required for the storage in home : programs which viewers are interested in can be automatically recorded and viewers can call up any program they like, anytime they like. We have developed a experimental model of the Home Server, which is the storage in home and has the above functions. In this paper, we explain the concept of this experimental model and the user interface.

We have developed a digital video camera containing a progressive-scan CCD which has 360k pixels. In this system, we can choose between a field motion picture mode(60fields/sec) and a frame motion picture mode(30frame/sec) freely, because all of 60fields/sec signals from the CCD are processed in the camera section and a scan form is converted in the recorder section. And for this system, we have developed a signal processing IC for progressive-scan CCDs. This IC we've developed enabled us to process signals properly for progressive-scan CCDs by wide range primary color signal processing and vertical 7-line correlative processing.

We have developed a compact MPEG camera where MPEG video and audio is used for the recording format. The MPEG camera encodes / decodes image data with using a newly developed MPEG-1 CODEC LSI and audio data with a RISC-type CPU software. This paper describes the software based real-time MPEG audio coding system which realizes not only normal play but also trick play such as fast forward and reverse direction.

Virtual studios have recently become the rage for program production use at television broadcast stations and other studio production facilities. There is a problem, however. Since most virtual studios must employ high-performance computer workstations, most local stations and smaller facilities usually have difficulty obtaining one due to the high operational and maintenance costs involved. In consideration of this situation, We developed its new concept 2D virtual studio system, digiWarp. The digiWarp can be installed easily and at a relatively initial cost, and is highly cost effective after installation. In addition, it also offers a high level of performance equivalent to 3D systems, even though its technology base is 2D.

"VIDEOS" is the multi-purpose video server, using D-RAM/FLASH memory for main data storage. It has high reliability in comparison with hard disk, and high quality by Motion-JPEG encoding with variable-bitrate. Now, VIDEOS is used as CM-Bank/Video-Audio File system by over 30 broadcasting stations in Japan.

This system helps to operate FPU (Field Puck up Unit) that is the unit to transmit audio and video to TV station. This system consists of TV station side system and News-car side system and they communicate data each other. Functions of TV station side system are to indicate the location of news-car on digital map, to show the profile, to keep past data and to control FPU automatically. News-car side system simplify to control FPU. We can make a FPU circuit ahead of time with this system. It was intoroduced into Iwaki branch station in April 1998.
