A new technique titled "Particle Refresh" is introduced to particle swarm optimization (PSO) and a hybridization with conjugate gradient method is also discussed in this paper. The particle refresh charges power to inactive particle to improve the recovery ability of PSO after trapping on a local solution, and as a result, it becomes easy to choose suitable values for control-parameters to keep high performance for diverse objective functions. On the other hand, the point of the hybridization is how to determine the changeover timing between a conjugate gradient method and a PSO algorithm.

In this paper, the influence of the rainfall on the satellite communication link is statistically evaluated from the data of the received signal level and bit error (BE) obtained from the satellite communication experiment, and the bit error generation method are shown for the development of bit error generation method on satellite link. First the influence of the rainfall on the downlink is extracted, and the feature of BE under this condition is shown. Next, the coefficient of variation is introduced into a bit error generation method proposed by us, and the result is shown.

This paper is concerned with providing a simple algorithm for a computer simulation of electric field distributions to keep a better quality of communications in relation to the hand over between a mobile station and base stations. The cell geometry is assumed to be a honeycomb structure with a base station at the center of each regular hexagon, and it is also assumed that a mobile station walks randomly among some cells. The incident waves from base stations and their reflected waves from a ground plane are included to approximately compute the electric field distributions. Moreover the effect of buildings on propagation is included and changed in each cell by the power of path distances based on the statistical propagation characteristics.

This paper is concerned with a Discrete Ray Tracing Method (DRTM) for the electromagnetic wave propagation along ground plane with arbitrary shape. The DRTM carries out two types of discretizations. One is discretization of rough surface, and the othre is discretization of serching ray. Much computation time can be saved by this operations. In the numerical result, we first make arbitrary shapes of ground plane by using a map data and calculate electromagnetic field distribution along it. Ray distributions are shown and the effect of diffraction in the shadowing region is discussed.

In urban areas, electromagnetic waves are scattered complexly by walls and edges of buildings. Therefore, it is important to estimate the propagation path from the viewpoint that effectively uses the radio wave resources. In this paper, the electromagnetic diffracted field by two edges with arbitrary angle in different heights are analyzed by GTD.

The effect of outer wall's shapes on electromagnetic waves propagation is presented. The fact that the rates of reflected, transmitted and scattered waves are changed depending on the radii of round convexities which are located on outer walls of a square building have been verified not only analytically but also experimentally. The both results obtained by the FVTD method and experimental testing show that the reflected and scattered waves are increased and the transmitted waves are decreased.

It is important for the design of wireless communication systems to clarify the characteristics of electromagnetic (EM) wave scattering from rain. This paper treats EM wave scattering from four perfectly conducting objects and numerically solves them by using the boundary element method. The objects have the shape of a sphere and an oblate raindrop and are on the top of a regular tetrahedron. Numerical results show that the amplitude of scattered wave is larger for raindrops than for spheres. As the distance between objects becomes longer, the amplitudes of forward and backward scattered waves vibrate. However, the center of vibration converges on a value.

The effect of densities of people on electric field strength propagating inside the room is presented. The fact that the distribution of electric fields propagating inside a room is changed depending on densities of people has been verified not only analytically but also experimentally. The results obtained by the FVTD method agree well with those obtained by experimental testing and those results show that the electric field strength propagating inside the room are decreased as densities of people inside there are increased.

This paper considers the estimation of complex dielectric constant of metal backed material by using spatial cylindrical standing wave. A line source is located near the metal backed material and electric field strength between the source and the material is obtained by microwave experiment. The electric field strength is analyzed theoretically by changing the electric parameters of the material: dielectric constant and conductivity. The electric parameters for which the electric field strength by theoretical analysis is good agreement with that by experiment are estimated to be the electric parameters of the material. The estimated parameters are also compared with those obtained by the coaxial probe method.

An electrically small and low profile print antenna using Peano line is presented. A half-wavelength linear antenna is fed at an offset position from the center for a structure having a metallic back conductor with which the feed is coupled. Furthermore, a Peano line element is used for electrically small size. In the Peano line element, current on a pair of neighboring lines with the longest length is less canceled out, because the phase of the pair of neighboring lines in the Peano element is different. Also, we have fabricate a low profile antenna with a metallic back conductor at the position of 50μm away from the element, and measured the radiation efficiency. The radiation efficiency of Peano antenna has increased by 3dB compared to that of meander antenna.

In this paper, we discuss about data communication link to transmit the GPS data to ground control station. Here, we introduce the 4 elements stack array antenna consist of the modified transmission line antenna for receiving antenna of the GPS data from the air plane. A dual frequency circularly polarized antenna is proposed for UHF (950MHz) and microwave (2.45GHz) RFID reader applications. By properly combined circularly polarized square ring slot structure into well known circularly polarized truncated square patch antenna, a dual-frequency circularly polarized microstrip antenna is presented. The proposed antenna is located on the finite dielectric substrate. In the numerical analysis, the electromagnetic simulator WIPL-D based on the Method of Moment is used.

Their return loss characteristics, current distribution and electric filed radiation pattern are numerical analyzed. By changing the shape of antenna or adding the parasitic element near dipole element, the wideband operation is realized. In the numerical analysis, the electromagnetic simulator WIPL-D based on the Method of Moment is used.

This paper represents the eighth harmonic Push-Push oscillator. A both-sided MIC technology is adopted in the oscillator. The oscillator consists of a slot ring resonator, microstrip line, and two negative resistance circuit using HEMT. The microstrip line is used for the power combining circuits, This kind of oscillator has advantages such as easy circuit design, the simple circuit configuration and the miniaturization of the circuit size. The oscillator is expected to achieve millimeter wave oscillators at low cost.

It was my first experience to manufactured a 3 elements Yagi-Uda array antenna for the ham radio when I was 20 years old. Since then I have dedicated to developed many antennas for these 50 years, which called the centerline driven loop antenna, the twin delta loop antenna, the modified transmission line antenna, the parallel transmission line loaded loop antenna with reduced size, the parallel transmission line loaded multi-band loop antenna, the double folded mono-pole antenna, and the circularly polarized normal mode helical antenna. I also reported principles of the developed antennas in many conferences or my books. In this report, I would like to introduce the historical back ground or episode with relating to these antenna developments.

Staked rectangular microstrip antenna with a shorting plate and helical pin is proposed as a car antenna for triple band operation in ITS. The proposed antenna operates as a conventional stacked maicrostrip antenna at the highest resonant mode. At the middle and the lowest resonant modes, the antenna radiates at low elevation angle from the helical pin and the shorting prate. In this paper, as an example of triple band antenna in the ITS, the antenna for the VICS, mobile WiMAX and ETC is designed. The proposed antenna has the proper radiation pattern for VICS, mobile WiMAX and ETC. The antenna is small in size and effective triple operation.

The recent increases in network speed allows data and moving image transmission to be realized more easily. This trend would seem to offer support for students asking lectures by top class lecturers regardless of student location; the key demand is that the lectures must offer high presence. This paper proposes a simple remote lecture system with high presense. We drew the problem which the present remote lecture has. And we propose some means to solve these problems. Then we realized the remote lecture with more high presence.
