The authors have been studying a single-carrier transmission scheme with frequency domain equalization (SC-FDE) for millimeter-wave band FPUs (Field Pick-up Unit) and wireless cameras. To investigate the degradation of transmission performance against output back-off of power amplifier in 42-GHz band mobile multi-path environment, a laboratory experiment was carried out. SC-FDE signal was amplified in non-linear region of a 42-GHz band power amplifier with an output back-off as a parameter. After that, transmission performance through dynamic multi-path channel was evaluated. As a result, even though the output back-off becomes as small as 2dB, the degradation of required received CNR (Carrier to Noise power Ratio) for quasi error-free can remain small enough.

As a scheme to improve frequency utilization efficiency, we have been working on superposed multicarrier transmission scheme where several wireless systems share spectrum. In superposed multicarrier transmission scheme, the effects of interference signal on superposed band are suppressed by forward error correction (FEC). To realize this suppression, log likelihood ratio (LLR) should be set appropriately particularly on superposed band. However, in most cases, superposed band and power of interference signal are unknown to the system so that we need to estimate them. In this report, we explain superposed multicarrier transmission scheme. We also explain our proposed estimation techniques of them.

Live media streaming has become one of the most important applications over the Internet. However, having an all-round scalable, reliable, responsive and cost-effective solution for delivery of live video over multiple platforms is still a challenge. To deliver live video over a variety of platforms like laptops, mobile phones, tablets, gaming consoles, etc., the video needs to be encoded to appropriate format based on the device on which it is to be rendered. This is due to the heterogeneity and limited computing resources present in the devices. The traditional way of using hardware encoder has been known to be expensive and inefficient. Cloud provides virtually infinite on-demand resources for encoding and streaming. The main idea of this proposal is to vary the number of encoding/transcoding and streaming servers dynamically based on the user demand for each type of stream. We proposed a framework to deliver live video over multiple platforms and used Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) to predict user demand in [1]. This report is an extension to [1]. In this report, we formulate the resource allocation problem as a Multi-objective Integer Linear Programming (ILP) problem based on ANN predictions.

To cope with the license expiration granted for 700MHz FPU operations at the end of March 2019, spectrum reallocation of FPU has been already started. This report describes the story so far from 2010, the technical difficulties in the operation on the new frequency band, the equipment regulations for FPU. Moreover, we introduce our FPU operations on a new frequency band as a case study, which is the first actual campaign in Japan carried out in this February.
