The possibility of using gradient-index lenses on new pickup method for Integral Photography which offers three-dimensional autostereoscopic images is studied. The advantages of using the gradient-index lenses are that it resolves pseudoscopic image and interference between element images which are shot by a camera. Experimental results of these advantages are shown.
We consider the LSI circuit of the multirate discrete cosine transform (MR-DCT) that can realize a simple and fast image compression. The MR-DCT uses only additions and subtractions except for one multiplication of mean operation, but needs the compensation operation. For the fast operation that is one clock for one DCT coefficient we propose the heuristic MR-DCT (HMR-DCT) and for a simple LSI circuit we present an approximate HMR-DCT with equivalent sampling. The realization of a 9×9 block DCT hardware that is a basic element for the image compression circuit is considered and simulated by the circuit simulator.
We introduced two digital halftoning methods which provides stable color-reproduction against color registration error by using organised dither method, especially for a 600dpi desktop color laser printer. One method uses conventional rotated orthogonal dotted screen. In this method, we construct a new dither pattern using a multi level clustering to get smooth gradation and reduce moire defect. The other method uses non-orthogonal dotted screen genarated by 2^m×2^n small dither matricies.
Document printing technology which permits to print collectively plural pages consisted in a document, has been developed for a high speed tandem color laser printing. The possibility of a small size and high performance document printing system has been shown.
