    1. The lateral roentgenograms of the bladder show that the abdominal and the uterovesical portions of the bladder wall tend to approach the anatomical conjugation during pregnancy in contrast to the non-pregnant condition.
    2. The lateral roentgenograms of the bladder during pregnancy show characteristic projection in each period of gestation due to the intra-uterine fetal position and attitude.
    3. During pregnancy, the position of the external meatus in the lateral roentgenograms varies as gestation progresses.
There is a difinite tendency for the meatus to shift in parallel with the anatomical conjugation, but not in a vertical (sagittal) direction, i. e. moves down-ward.
    4. Similarly, the position of the internal meatus varies as the fetus approaches maturity. There is no difinite tendency of mobility in a parallel direction to the anatomical conjugation, but it approaches the sacrum in a vertical direction (sagittal), i. e. posteriorly.
    5. The range of mobility of the positions of the external and internal meatuses with change of position during pregnancy is the same as that in non-pregnant condition. The range of mobility of the external meatus in a parallel direction to the anatomical conjugation is greater than that of the internal meatus, and in a vertical direction less than that of the internal meatus.
In other words, the range of mobility of the internal meatus in a vertical direction to the anatomical conjugation (sagittal direction) is greater than that of the external meatus and in a parallel (upper and down ward) diretion less than that of the external meatus.

  • REPORT III. ON THE MUTUAL RELATIONS OF THE POSITION OF THE BLADDER AND URETHRA BEFORE AND AFTER GYNECOLOGICAL OPERATIONS AS SHOWN IN THEIR LATERAL ROENTGENOGRAMS

    1. As a result of gynecological operations, the bladder and the posterior urethra are affected in their shape and position.
    2. After the operation, the position of the externel meatus as well as the internal meatus is pulled downwards.
    3. The anterior and posterior mobility (in sagittal direction) of the internal meatus caused by urination after operation is less than that before operation.
The internal meatus moves downwards (towards the external genitalia) before operation, while it moves upwards (towards the sacroscapular region) after operation.
For this reason, possibly, the range of mobility of the external meatus by urination is greater than that of the internal meatus.

The congenital ureteral valve, which rarely occurs, constitues a primary cause for the obstruction of the upper part of the urinary tract. However, the origin of its developement is still unaccounted for.
The literature has supplied us with only ten cases of this deformity. The purpose of this paper is to present additional three cases.
Case NO. 1: The patient, a 24-years old male, had valve in his right ureter. He had, in addition, right hydronephrosis of moderate degree and ureteral calculus.
Case No. 2: The patient, a 29-years old female, was found to have duplicated left kidneys, one of the duplicated ureters having valves. There was hydronephrosis of severe degree above those valves.
Case No. 3: The patient, 57-years old female, had valves in the right ureter and hydronephrosis of severe degree in the right kidney.
Nephroureterectomy was performed on the above three patients with rather satisfactory results.
