ジャーナル フリーA stretched circular diaphragm, which is not only under a permanent tensile stress but also with some bending stiffness due to its elastic characters, is treated. When the diaphragm is not so tightly stretched, we can not neglect the effects of the bending stiffness on the acoustical characteristics. The purpose of the present study is to approach these points. An expression of the total energy taking account of these effects is obtained. And from this results the equations for the diaphragm are found out. Then numerical investigations of the normal vibrations are carried out. By these investigations, it has become very easy to estimate the effects of the bending stiffness in the vibrations of a circular stiff membrane and of the permanent tensile stress in the case of a circular stretched plate抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (427K) -

ジャーナル フリーThe transmission of ultrasonic waves at oblique incidence through a plane plate made of viscoelastic material is theoretically studied. The absorptive properties of the solid medium which have been neglected in the previous theory are considered. The resulting expression for the transmission is of the same form as in the case of a non-absorptive plate, but the propagation constants of the waves are replaced by complex quantities in the expression. The effect of the absorption is remarkable near the critical angle of incidence for longitudinal or transverse waves in solid. It is shown that when the absorption by the plate is appreciable, the more simple formula can be applied and the formula agrees well with the experimental results described in the next report.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (374K) -

ジャーナル フリーUsing the rotating plate method in which ultrasonic transmission is plotted as a function of the angle of incidence, velocities and attenuations of the waves in viscoelastic solids are experimentally obtained. The theory of ultrasonic transmission through a plate made of viscoelastic material in the preceding paper is employed for the analyses of the experimental results obtained. Details of an apparatus for making such measurements are given. The ultrasonic velocities and attenuations of poly-methylmetacrylate, ebonite, poly-vinyl-chloride and rubber have been measured with this equipment and the values obtained are shown to be in agreement with previously published data. It is noted that the velocity of rotational waves obtained from the apparent critical angle for rotational waves is always larger than the actual value on account of the absorptive property of the solid medium, and that for obtaining the exact value of the velocity the correct transmission curve and troublesome calculations are required.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (781K) -

ジャーナル フリーThe values of the absorption coefficient of snow have been measured by Standing Wave Method. The propagation of sound has also been tested under various conditions of snow, such as soft new, hard old, frozen and falling. The results obtained were compared with that under the snowless condition. In newly fallen state, because of its appreciable absorption, sound is considerably reduced at a distance more than two hundred meters from the sound source, while, in hard and frozen state, the reduction is comparable with that of the snowless condition. ジャーナル フリーThis paper describes a theoretical research on the acoustic radiation pressure acting on a flat plate of finite width and infinite length which is so placed in a sound field that the plane is parallel to the wave surface. Introducing the elliptic cylinder coordinates, the sound diffraction and the inertia of the plate are taken into account and then the numerical calculations about the radiation pressure are carried out as far as k_1(2π/λ)×half the width of the plate is increased to 3. 0 for the plate of various materials in the plane progressive and the standing wave fields in water.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (528K) -
