Considering the standing wave generated on a plate as a sound source, the sound power can be estimated from the viewpoint of mean square energy transmission by the following sequence. 1) To obtain the power supplied to the plate from mean square impact force and the driving point impedance. 2) To obtain the vibrational energy from the supplied power and the total loss factor. 3) To obtain the radiated power from the vibrational energy and the radiation loss factor. Average impact force characteristics and the derivation of transmission parameters, such as driving point impedance, total loss factor and radiation loss factor, are considered. Estimates of vibrational energy and radiated sound power agree well with experimental values.
