    In the present paper, the details of noise exposure of 211 persons who live in Nagoya are discussed and their responses to noise in daily life are investigated. The results of this survey are compared with the ones of survey done in Sendai by Kono et al. These results show fairly good agreements as a whole. However, there are some differences between two surveys as follows:1) The mean values of L_<eq24> of office workers and of housewives in our survey are higher about 2&sim;3 dBA than that in Sendai. 2) The mean value of L_eq during commutation in Nagoya is also higher than that in Sendai, which seems to come from the fact that the subway facilities are available or not. 3) The H group (L_<eq> during working≧80 dBA) is much more exposed to noise level than the L group in nearly all activities (L_<eq> during working<70 dBA). The apparent distinction mentioned above could not be found between H group and the remaining one(L_<eq> during working<80 dBA). And in addition the following results are obtained in this survey. 1) In commutation many of the workers feel more annoying to the noise when they return home. 2) The noise exposure to housewives seems to be considerably affected by their children.

    This report discusses the experimental process how to being approached the acoustic characteristics of a guitar with a top plate composed of the spruce and lauan boards to those with a single spruce board (reference). The vibration responses on the top plate driven by the constant sound pressure are measured at the place of the bridge, and estimated with the cumulative curves on Q-values obtained from their peak responses. From the obtained results from each experimental process, it can be said as follows:The ribs play important role to determine the acoustic characteristics in the low frequency ranges on the guitar, the plate under the bridge important in the middle, and the coating conditions in the high. Using each part with proper dimensions determined on the base of experimental results as said above, it is possible physically to make the popular guitar with the same cumulative curves of Q-values as on the valuable guitar. From psychological experiments on "resounding" and "similarity, " also, the evaluations on the popular guitar lastly approached are very similar to those on the valuable guitar.

    The characteristics of the contact resonance, which cause errors in measurement, depend on the type and condition of the ground surface. It was experimentally and theoretically confirmed that by introducing the modified dimensionless mass ratio for the investigations of the contact resonance, the influence of the soil were approximately eliminated, and so the characteristics of the vertical resonant frequencies and resonant amplitudes of the vibration pickup on soil could be only explained in termes of the mass ratio factor. The contact resonances depend only on the mass ratio which provides the relation between the mass and base area of the vibration pickup, and the resonant frequencies decrease and the resonant amplitudes increase with increasing mass ratio of the vibration pickup. Consequently, this paper indicated that the most suitable condition, which minimized the errors in measurement caused by the contact resonances, were provided in chart form for the base area and the weight of the vibration pickup.
