A hydrotherapeutic effect was compared by the use of Yamanaka spa and by ordinary hot water bath (one daily bathing at 41°C for 5 minutes) on a 2 cm. square of superficial wound which was experimentally created over the lumbar dorsal area of a rabit.
The area of the wound was measured daily with planimeter. The criterion of the healing process was based upon the healing-coefficient formulated by Dr. Olgida.
Following are the results of the experiment.
1) The healing of the wound was markedly expedited by the use of Yamanaka spa therapy as compared with that of ordinary hot water.
2) In the group in which Yamanaka spa was used the average coefficient of wound-healing showed as against in the group in which an ordinary hot water bath was applied: the ratio being 2: 1.
