    The iso-electric point of cancer cell was examined according to Pischinger's method, in 37 cases of uterine cancer subjected to operation. Iso-electric point proved to he greatly affected not only by the maturity of the parenchyma, but also by the state of the stroma of tumor. As for the type of parenchyma, basal-cell carcinoma were studied. As lizima reported, bigger cells gave higher value of iso-electric point and the smaller the cell was the smaller the value of iso-electric point. In the anaplastically proliferated areas, the lowest value was observed. In the more fibrous area, higher value was checked. At the advancing margin of the tumor with exudative or granulomatous stromaI reactions, cells of low value of iso-electric point were seen. Therefore, it may be presumed that the growth of cancer is more or less affected by resistive reaction. As in the case of gastric cancer, our results will support Imai's idea that in order to understand histologically the development of cancer, a great emphasis should be given upon the analysis of the interrelationship between parenchyma and stroma of tumor.

    In 8 autopsies of 21 pulmonary tuberculosis cases, renal calculi without clinical symptoms were found. The mechanism of the stone formation was examined pathologically. Results were as follows:
    1) It is not clear whether there is any relation between stone formation and prolonged recumbency and skeletal tuberculosis.
    2) It seems that isonicotinic acid hydrazide treatment has some effect on the calculi formation, for all cases which were treated with that drug had renal calculi.
    3) The calculi had various kind of macroscopical appearances by each case in 4 cases, argyrophil fibrils and tubercle bacilli within the calculi were found.
    4) Hyalin casts in tubular lumina and depositions of calcium in tubular epithelium, vascular endothelium and tuberculous tubercle of kidney were found in some cases. However, it seems that these are not the direct causes for the formation of calculi.
    5) Tuberculous changes in the cortex of kidney were also observed.
    6) Tuberculous and inflammatory changes in papilla andd mucosa of calyx, tissue desqua-mation in calyx and calcium deposition were found in most cases. These changes may be regarded as the primary factors in the formation of calculi.

    Of 18 cases of Buerger's disease admitted to the hospital sympathetic ganglionectomy was performed in 13 during the past four years.
    The peripheral sympathetic functions were examined by skin resistance test, galvanic skin reflex test, skin tempersture test, thermic perspiration test of Minor, subcutaneous pilocarpin injection test, intracutaneous pilocarpin injection test of Wada-Takagaki method, and sweat gland test. In addition, the reciprocal relation of each test was scrutinized.
    1) According to the location and extent of the resected sympathetic ganglion, the thermic perspiration and the galvanic skin reflex in the area of the operated side became absent immediately after the operation.
    This location which corresponds to the area of high resistance as described by Richter and others is clearly demarkated in its borders. Since these three phenomena are to in-dicate the sympathetic impulse from the center through sweat gland it can be easily understood that the interruption of the sympathetic ganglion route would result in the block-ing of the area covered by the nerve. However, the borderline of the elevation of skin temperature is indefinite.
    2) Although the thermic perspiration test requires time, it renders the blocked area easily identified, its border easily defined, and the extent of the damage measured. The electric skin resistance test is simple both in its apparatus and its procedure while the galvanic skin reflex test is not suitable to determine the affected area. However, the retlex impulse can be shown by this simple technic. The electric skin resistance and the galvanic skin reflex can be recorded by same apparatus simultaneously.
    3) It is considered that the function of sweat gland does not disappear rapidly even the area has no longer been under control of the sympathetic nerve. This is shown by the appearance of perspiration when pirocarpin is injected subcutaneously and intracutan-eously in the blocked area, My study shows that the perspiration in the affected area was abscent one year after the operation. This fact is consistent with many former reports.
    4) hollwoing the operation the temperature of the leg of the operated side showed less fluctuation when it was placed in cold water or exposed to the cold air as compared to the non-operated side.
    The decurease of the electric skin resistance of operated side is not marked as that of non-operated side when both legs were placed in warm water and the temperature of skin was elevated. The sympathetic nerve which controls the contraction of blood vessels loses its function as a result of sympathetic ganglionectomy in the diseased leg in thromboangitis obliterans.
    Thus the blood supply to the diseased leg is increased. This is noted not only in normal condition but when exposed to cold weather or at the state of mental excitement as the contraction of blood vessel does not occur. In addition, the deminished radiation of tempe-rature due to loss of thermic perspiration may also influence favorably in the healing me chanism.

    Intestinal tuberculosis has been reported as the best indication of latest antituberculosis medicine, i. e., streptomycin, para-aminosalicylacid and thiosemicarbason. However, few reports has been made on their distant effects. In the previous paper we reported our ob-servation by 3 months after streptomycin therapy. This is to report the 24 months results of 113 intestinal tuberculosis cases treated with chemotherapy. especially, with streptomycin, at the National Miyagi Sanatorium, during the period from September 1949 to August 1951. The results were as follows:
    (1) Out of 113 intestinal tuberculosis cases treated with chemotherapy, 98 cases had good outcome.
    (2) These cases were more among early, late, minimal and moderatly advanced stages than other stages.
    (3) Out of 89 cases of good outcome cases, 42 cases were those cases which had been treated only with streptomycin (40g.).
    (4) Out of 34 cases which had been treated only with streptomycin (40g), passed throughout 24 months after the treatment and had good process-curves and 25 cases were found to be of negative of bacilli in sputa.

    Tropolone makes the nncleal body on the groupe of Cycloheptatrienolone which is one type of insaturated cycloheptatriene compounds. Some of the derivatives from these, for ex-ample, -Colchicin in 1932, Hinokitiol in 1936-had been extracted from the botanical tissue since quite a long ago, and because of its peculiar characteristics the studies concern-ing the presence of the biological effect so well as the chemical and physical research of these compounds had been strongly demanded.
    And then, the decision of the chemical construction of Tropolone and the artificialy build up of Tropolone and its derivatives became possible only in recent years (between 19-48 and 1950).
    1, I have tried to make clear the biological effect of this new compound, and then, as the first step, I have made the reference investigation in order to obtain the whole picture of chemical and physical characters of this compound. That is as follows.
    1) Tropolone compound is one kind of cycloheptatrienolone which is one type of in-saturated cycloheptatriene compounds. Tropolone is a nucleal body of these compounds.
    2) However, Tropolone and its derivatives belong to the insaturated cyclotriene com-pound, they have quite a stable characteristics chemicaly together with the semiaromatic character. According to the condition of the reaction it is possible, that nucleus may ele-ctrified both electropositive and electronegative. Therefore semetimes it may react acidi-ty and other timos as alkaline, and even it is possible to create great difference in their reaction direction.
    3) In order to be the flat heptatrien and the ring strain which is caused upon the con-struction of the Tropolone kern the flatness of the kern may be lost due to the cubic dis-turbance which is caused by the far greater cubic result in comparison with the Benzen Kern. And because of this it is assumed that this will bring a great change in the insaturat-ed electron system and will influence greatly to the chemical and physical characteristics. 4) Tropolone group have the strong mutual action toward some substances, because of this construction of having, such characteristics. Therefore, it is understood that some of the Tropolone group give the spectacular biological effect.
    5) Therefore not only from the standpoint of pure chemical or pure physical science, Tropolone group in recent days are investigated from various points of view such as biolo-gy, biochemistry, or heredity especially for application of it forr chemical treatment against cancer and others. This is valuable of attention. 6) However, I can find the very few investigations about the biological effect of Tro-polone itself.
    7) Due to some connection at the beginning of the research procedures of this sub-stance, Professor Katsura and Nozoe had been investigating mostly on the clinical applica-tion of Hinokitiol, which is Isopropyl-Tropolone to tuberculous diseases. The result of this was proved to be a little effective against tuberculous diseases.
    2. I have made several experiments using this Tropolone which is composed according to professor Nozoe's method (mp 48°-°c, colorless crystal …… tetragonal system……) in order to clear the biological effect of Tropolone.
    A. At first, I examined the biological effect of Tropolone will apply the Arndt-Schulz's Pule or not, and obtained the following results.
    a) The growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis Typus gallinaceus (Su-cho strain) is definite-ly prevented in the Sauton medium with addition 1/10, 000 diluted Tropolone according to the culture result of 24 to 240 hours
    b) The growth of Typhoid, Solmonella paratyphoid A, Salmonella paratyphoid B, Ko-magome B II & Esche.richia coli is definitely prevented in the 1/10, 000 Tropolone dilution added Buillon medium according to 24-72 hours culture results.
    c) The growth of Bacillus anthracis, 209 p and Heatley is definitely prevented in the 1/320, 000 Tro
