A total of 31 patients received ambulatory or “open ward” treatment with Triominn alone, or in combination with Chlorpromazine, Cafilon or with a kind of psychotonics suchh as electro-convulsive therapy.
Complete remission or remarkable improvement was seen in 28 cases, but there were 3 cases which did not respond favourably.
The dosage of Triomin used was 1/6-1/5 of Chlorpromazine.
Triomin was effective on the patients who had failed to respond Chlorpromazine: treatment.
Combined medication of Triomin with Chlorpromazine or with a stimulant of thee central nervous system such as Cafilon was, in some cases, more effective than using themm alone separately.
Triomin was found to improve markedly the psychomotor excitement, depressivee state with agitation, anxiety, hallucination and delusion.
Triomin increased the spontaneity of the patient and never decreased it as did Chlorpromazine. It, however, did not have euphoric effect.
Parkinsonism was observed often as a side reaction in the treatment with this, drug. This side reaction, however, seemed to be rather favorable from the therapeuticc point of view. Serious side reactions such as the disturbance of liver function or drug; eruption etc were not observed.
This drug was not always a satisfactory substitute for schock therapy, especially electro-convulsive therapy. By using this drug, however, relatively heavy psychotics can, be easily and safely treated with a rapid cure as out-patient or in open wards.
