In continuance with the previous reports (1-4), the effect of excess glycine on rat liver DNA, RNA was examined. For the determinaton of Desoxyribonucleic acid, Ribonucleic acid in animal tissues, the method by Schmidt et al. was used. From the results obtained, no significant change was recognized on DNA cotnent of liver among 4 groups. But, on glycine excess animals, RNA was much lower than that of control.
The anthers practiced organoleptic test on powdered skim milk beverage with fermented rice bran by Kremer's ranking method. The panel were 5 home economic students, who ranked highest the sample kept at 37°C during 4 hours with fermented rice bran (0.3%). Increased amounts of amino acids made from milk protein was observed.
The authers studied acceptance of two types of rice gruel diet. One was 1, 000-1, 200 Cal diet, the other 1300-1400 Cal diet. Owing to plate waste actual consumption ware 860 Cal and 1250 Cal respectively. The subjects were 185 patients, including internal disease patients (23%), post operative patients (61%), and patients suffering dysphagie or dysmastication (16%). Both diets were effective to recover health. Nausea or vomiting were observed among patients: 12-25% of internal disease patients, and 17% of dysphagie or dismastication patients.
