ジャーナル フリーSingle crystal materials currently in use in various fields of opto-electronics are reviewed from a view-point of materials science. Characteristics of crystalline laser host, nonlinear optic crystals, electrooptic crystals, and ultrasonic light diffraction solid medium are described. Present state-of-the-art of the crystal growth by pulling method are discussed, and relations between the growth conditions and the deflects in the obtained crystals are stressed. Necessary steps in the process of the device fabrication are analysed, and some important factors such as phase diagram information, domain structure in oxide ferroelectrics, and laser damage susceptibility are pointed out. ジャーナル フリーRecently, a new material that is both ferroelectric and ferroelastic in a wide temperature range including room temperature has been discovered. This material with chemical formula Gd2(MoO4)3 promises peculiar applications in the field of optoelectronics and other fields. In this article, first, the concept of “ferroelasticity” being explained, a theoretical consideration is made of general ferroelastic materials and general ferroelectric-ferroelastic materials not limited to Gd2(MoO4)3, and subsequently mention is made of the fundamental characters of Gd2(MoO4)3 as ferroelectric-ferroelastic material.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (748K) -

ジャーナル フリーFerroelectric and ferroelastic Gd2(MoO4)3 seems to promise new functional applications in the field of optoelectronics and others. In this article, the characteristics of this material and new effects are shown and discussed phenomenologicaly in comparison with ordinary ferroelectrics. ジャーナル フリーThe (001), (010) and (100) surfaces of Rochelle salt crystals are etched by lightly rubbing on filter papers moistened with distilled water, and the structure of etched surfaces and the light figures revealed are observed. The (001) surface is covered with etch pits of rectangular pyramids, some of them line-bottomed and some of them flat-bottomed, surrounded in each case by {027} and {105} facets. Similar etch pits appear on the (010) surface but they are formed of {190} and {0, 24, 1} facets. On the (100) surface, etch pits of a boat shape and of a shallow trough surrounded by {28, 0, 1}, {410} and {520} facets are observed, the last of which is sometimes {520}_??530, are observed. Corresponding to the etched structures, light figures of regular shapes are revealed by the (001), (010) and (100) surfaces, respectively, although they are somewhat indistinct.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (2132K) -

ジャーナル フリーThe necessary and sufficient condition has been deduced for an optical system which forms a perfect image of an off-axial object point B, further to form perfect images of other object points situated near B on the same object plane. The anterior and posterior “principal surfaces” for the point B of such an “aplanatic” system have been found to be spherical, with their centers located at B and its image point, respectively. Regarding an optical system capable of forming a perfect image of the point B alone, formulas have been given for calculating the quantity Δα by the aid of ray tracing data, where Δα represents in linear dimension the departure from the aplanatic condition for any ray emitted from B. The theory has been extended so as to be applicable to a practical optical system which forms a perfec or nearly perfect image of B on an optimum image plane instead of the paraxial one.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (872K) -

ジャーナル フリーThe visual threshold determination by the use of the up-and-down method was simulated by a mathematical model. Normal random numbers are used to decide the response of the subject model, i. e. “Seen the test stimulus” or “Not seen” The influence of the step size, the starting level and the total number of response in one session upon the resultant threshold are studied. The results indicate that the resultant threshold comes closer to the theoretical threshold value for a larger step size, a closer starting level to the theoretical threshold value and a larger total response number of response.抄録全体を表示PDF形式でダウンロード (459K) -
