A rare case of primary malignant adenocarcinoma of the canine prostate gland was reported. Hematuria was the only clinical sign. blood and urine analysis, catheterization, experimental laparotomy and radiography with contrast medium for the urinary system were performed, but it was impossible to make a correct diagnosis before necropsy. Necropsy revealed severe infection with
Dirofilaria immitis in the heart and the lung which led to serious circulatory and respiratory disorders.
The left lobe of the prostate gland was markedly enlarged and included bloody fluid which was readily transferred to the bladder by finger pressure given from the outside of the gland. Papillomatous tissue was proliferated. Microscopic examination showed a typical carcinoma of the gland with disorderly arrangement and many mitotic figures of epithelial cells. The right lobe of the prostate gland showed cystic hyperplasia.
