Eight cows were administered orally with 0.4-1.0g/kg of potassium chloride dissolved in wa.ter. Only one of them suffered from paroxysmal systemic myospasm, frequent severe diarrhea, and marked sialorrhea after administered with 1.0g/kg of KCl. Electrocardiographically, the P wave disappeared and the T wave increased in height in 2 cows given 0.9 and 1.0g/kg, respectively. Moreover, the QRS and T wave increased in duration and ventricular flutter was seen in another cow given 1.0g/kg.
Ten cows were injected intravenously with a clysis containing 0.3-1.2mEq/kg of KC1 in the course of 20 minutes. Of them, three showed abnormal changes. Besides, 10 cows were administered with a clysis containing0.3-1.2mEq/kg of potassium L-aspartate in the same manner as mentioned above. They manifested no clinical symptoms, but one cow given 1.2mEq/kg presented changes electrocardiographically.

A total of 62 leukotic cows from the Tokachi district in Hokkaido were classified into four types (10 into the calf, 18 into the thymic, 3 into the skin, and 31 into the adult types). BLV antibodies were positive in all the cases, except one in the adult type leukosis and only one case in the thymic type was positive in all of the other types leukosis.
The most common clinical findings of leukotic cows investigated were swelling of superficial and medial iliac lymph nodes. In addition the authors became to know that highly swelling of the thymus, nodular or urticaria-like lesions of the general skin and palpation of tumor mass in pelvic cavity and posterior abdomen was beneficial to diagnosis of the thymic type, the skin type, ana some cases of the adult type bovine leukosis, respectively.
As for the investigation of lymph node swelling, it was become cleared that consideration of the increase of short radius in lymph nodes was especially beneficial to diagnosis this disease by measuring of the control cows.
The other clinical findings of leukotic cows investigated showed close relations to the tumor lesions, but these were not considered to be characteristic findings for the diagnosis of this disease.

An antibody survey was conducted on 10 calves for 6 months beginning with November, 1979. Bovine parvovirus was isolated from the feces of 5 of these calves. The 10 calves showed a significant increase in titer of HI antibody against the isolated virus, showing that they might have been infected with parvovirus, without manifesting any clinical symptoms. During the assumed period of infection with this virus, there was no infection with bovine rotavirus, bovine coronavirus, or reovirus type I or II.

On a new poultry farm where avian infectious bronchitis (IB) vaccine had not been applied before, growing chickens were inoculated with a mixed live vaccine of Newcastle disease (ND) and IB on December 25, 1978, for the first time. Twelve days later, three groups of hens began to manifest respiratory symptoms and a decrease in egg production on this farm.
These hens showed an increase in titer of neutralizing antibody against IB in the convalescent stage. A virus was isolated from the trachea of diseased hens. It presented a strong relationship with the vaccine virus used in the cross neutralization test, suggesting that the IB vaccine virus might have been transmitted from the vaccinated growing chickens to the laying hens.

Used MS 7911 of Ascosphaera apis was isolated from white mummified larvae of honeybees at the Gifu Livestock Hygiene Service Center in 1979. Ethylene oxide (EO) gas was tested on it. A. apis was cultivated on M4OY agar at 25°C for 7 days. Then, ascospores were harvested and sprayed upon combs, which were tested with EO gas. As a result 2% and 3% EO gas were effective at 20°C for both 24 and 6 hr. Besides, 0.5% and 1% EO gas were effective at 30°C for both 24 and 6 hr. and 5% and 7% EO gas at 30°C for both 2 and 1 hr.

Primary cardiac hemangiosarcoma was found in a 7-year-old male Giant Schnauzer and a 13-year-old female Chow-chow. Cardiac tumors were located in the right atrium with widespread metastasis. Both dogs died suddenly as a result of rupture of the tumorous right atrium leading to heart-tamponade.
