A pharmaco-kinetic study of cisapride in cows was made to provide a basis for the clinical use of the drug. Cisapride (0.1 mg/kg) was intravenously administered to 5 clinically healthy cows; and serum was taken at 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 80, 100, 120, 150, 180, 240, 300, and 360 min after administration. Serum cisapride concentrations were measured by means of the HPLC method, and pharmaco-kinetic parameters were analyzed on the basis of a 2-compartment model. Serum half-life was 1.90±0.18 (mean±SD) hr; total body clearance was 23.17±1.05 m
l/kg/min; volume of distribution at a steady rate was 2.95±0.45
l/kg; and residence time was 2.11±0.29 hr.
