Six Holstein dairy cows suffered from continuous arrhythmia and diagnosed electrocardiographically as cases of auricular fibrillation (AF). They manifested pulse deficit and unequal pulse. In 3 cows sinus rhythm appeared spontaneously 14-57 days after the diagnosis of AF. In 2 cows AF remained 370 and 700 days, respectively, after the diagnosis of AF, and circulatory disturbances were exacerbated. The other cow was complicated with endocarditis and died 23 days after the diagnosis of AF.
In the electrocardiogram the R-R interval was absolutely irregular, the P wave lacked, and the f wave appeared continuously.

A total of 2, 195 swine, or 24.5% of the porcine population on 64 farms, were involved in an outbreak of swine influenza over a period from April to July, 1978. Virus isolated from 4 of them was identified serologically as swine influenza virus.
No swine had been positive for antibody on these farms before the outbreak. A survey conducted over a period from June to September, 1978, revealed thatantibodypositive swine were scattered extensively all over Shimane Prefecture. In January, 1979, the antibody positive rate was 1% among swine shipped from these farms to the slaughterhouse.

When inoculated with avian infectious laryngotracheitis virus, chicks less than 20 days old manifested sneezing and conjunctivitis. Their trachea was filled with yellow creamy substance. When kept in the same chicken house with infected chicks, 5 of 18 oneday-old chicks and 6 of 6 120day-old chicks contracted infection.
The rate of appearance of reaction after inoculation with attenuated virus was 5.0-26.9% in broiler chicks and 0-13.3% in layer chicks. There was no difference in the production of neutralizing antibody or ability to prevent infection between the broiler and layer chicks.
