A serological survey on Toxoplasma hemagglutination antibody was carried out among salughterhouse workers in Chiba Prefecture in 1970 and 1971. In slaughterhouses the positive rate was significantly higher among the employees engaged in slaughtering than those in the other types of work. Three employees who showed a high antibody titer of 1: 8192 for two consecutive years were diagnosed as toxoplasmosis cases after clinical examination. The micro-titer test as modified by the authors, gave satisfactory results, as compared with the standard method.
It was suggested that further efforts should be made to study the prevalence of Toxoplasma infection in domestic cats.
