In this study, using flow cytometric analysis, the effects of purified IgG antimelanocyte antibodies (IgG-anti MC), from patients with active vitiligo on T cell antigen expression were studied. The spontaneous expression of CD4, CD8, CD25 and TCR on patients' T cells was not dignificantly different from those of normal controls. However, after incubation with IgG-anti-MC, a significant decrease of these markers was noticed in healthy controls, but not in patients. These results suggest 2 possiblities: 1)dysfunction of T cell or 2)that the expression of T cell antigens in normal individuals can be inhibited by antimelanocyte antibodies, but vitiligo patients are resistant to the autoantibodies.
